Hi Fetor, I was wondering when would be a good time to re-enter the markets, after a major holiday, will the markets be somewhat normal by next week or should we wait until the following week? Or do we just do our anaylsis, and see what that shows to enter trades! Thanks as always for your imput.

Hey Rob. The problem with major holidays primarily is the lower volume. It’s not that our technical analysis changes in the sense that buyers and sellers are not concerned with exit points, but rather the pressure to move the price changes from the normal flow because of the holiday. The normal price manipulation we see in the market created by the institutions is slowed thus creating a tighter range of s/r in the near term. In light of this, by mid-week next week we should see the markets in full swing and starting to reestablish good price reference points for us to enter the market.

Hey Fetor, hope you had a great holiday! So if I understood you right, before a major holiday, we can decide to exit the market based on price action eg. narrow trends, not as much movement. Is this correct? do the institutions trade up to the week prior or do they close out by the 15th of December?

      Rob,
The institutional traders will continue to trade through the holidays (except when banks are closed). They are always monitoring positions. The market is in constant motion and those small range movements is buying and selling that is going on. Remember they only need a few pips to make money because they don’t deal with a spread. They can scalp up and down through the static. For us it is more difficult and risky and since the volume is low and the price movements can be a bit more erratic it is wise to just take some time off.
