Forex4Noobs Needs Help

Posted by Nick 38 Comments

Hi Guys,

First thing I want to say is if you got a ‘support ticket opened’ email today….. Sorry. In the interest of trying to be more efficient I implemented a email support ticket system. Due to a slight error it grabbed all the emails I got over the past year and turned them into support tickets sending out a ticket number. Oops, that was a major screw-up!

Anyway on to my point.

Guys I have to come clean. I am a workaholic entrepreneur who constantly puts more on his plate than he can handle. This is particularly bad when I have no time management skills to speak of.

Anyway the point is I promised the latest e-Book 2 months ago and it didn’t arrive until last week. I promised video course updates two weeks ago but due to a huge coding disaster they have not yet been fully uploaded. I promised the education section would be complete months ago but it has pretty much come to a standstill. Why does this happen? Well because this is mostly a one man show. Sure the bloggers make their posts and contribute to Forex4Noobs ( and I am immensely grateful to Fetor, Metalhawk and Gus for that) but the guy behind the scenes doing all the site management is always me. I take care of everything:

  • Responding to emails.
  • Coding and fixing site errors.
  • Adding content to the Education section.
  • Posting on the blog.
  • Creating other content.
  • Image and illustration editing (making those Ninjas look good is HARD work).
  • Creating new site pages/blogs.

What started off a small passion project website has grown into a day to day 7am-11pm job. To top it all off the site is still growing! In the 2.5 years this site has been opened it has grown from a tiny site that nobody knew about to a major name in the Forex education world. The thing is guys I just cannot keep up anymore, it is too much work for me and it is taking away from more important stuff like my writing content and my own trading.

So I am humbly asking for some volunteers who can contribute a few hours a week to do some basic stuff. I know it is a lot to ask because I am sure you have your own stuff to deal with. However, I have to ask. If I can get some people to help out with the general stuff then I can get back to doing what I do best, helping newbies becomes pro traders. For this I need around about 5 volunteers who can help with:

  • Answering support emails -  I have implemented a ticket system which will make this job easy.
  • Coding – Some Javascript, html, php and SQL skills would be perfect.
  • Proof reading and site checking – I need some people to run through every page of the site and tell me any display, bad link, spelling issues.
  • Creativity and Illustrations – If you have an artist inside you and can use Adobe illustrator I am in desperate need of your skills.
  • SEO & Usability – If your a SEO & Usability guru Forex4Noobs needs your help.

This is purely a volunteer type deal. Forex4Noobs cannot pay for this work at the moment. However if you do help out and you have good skills I will more likely than not hire you in future. I just need to stabilize Forex4Noobs before I take on any employees.

The site is growing to fast and I hate asking for help guys but Forex4Noobs needs it badly. I really do not want the last 2.5 years of my life to go to waste. So please, If you have even 2 hours a week free and you believe in Forex4Noobs and what it is trying to accomplish leave a comment below confirming your willingness to help. I will get back to you and give you the details.

Regards,
Nick

P.S. I hate asking for help!

Hi Nick, sure, i enjoyed reading up your website since it’s launched and I could help you with the support email and the proof reading/site checking stuff. I’m way…over here in Singapore so anyone sending late evenings email while you guys are sleeping over there, could be answered over here. Let me know if that is okay B-)

    Hey Nick!

First.. I just want to say that I just ordered your course.. and all I can say is WOW.. very nice! I have been studying it for the past week and was in a decent trade today on GBP/JPY for 50 or so pips targeted on a demo account.. and I think it is still going down.. oh well lol. I have made some bad trades the week before last on a mini account and have lost a little money…nothing significant.. but still. I put a hold on that and that is when I decided to get your course.

I have been following your website here for quite some time… little over a year now.

Anywho.. I can do the support thing.. I have experience doing that type of thing.

Feel free to contact me and let me know the details.

Since it is the holiday, I will be going to see my brother soon.. so will not be able to do anything until most likely the first of the year.. but I am willing… I would hate to see such an awesome website go down.. there are just to few left! At least that are worth their salt anyway. :!)

Again.. thank you for all that you do.

    Sincerely,

    Donovan

    Hi Nick,
20 odd years writing reports and checking other people’s reports. I’d be happy to proof-read.
Adding content? You could suggest areas and I could let you know.

  • phreddy

PS. Only available for volunteer work, I am retired and want to stay that way.

    Nick,

I am working in 2 weeks shift per month (2 weeks working and 2 weeks off) so I have all the time to help out, not only to make the website sustain but also to improve it. I have no problem to work full time for two weeks per month in forex4noobs and also during my working time I have all the evening to checks things here. That is because I learned so much from this website for over 2 years without paying a dollar!!

I am good in answering support emails (which is part of my real job) and I can do the proof checking as well. I have experience in coding but only in C++ which is useless here in this website.

    Good luck Nick

P.S.: Asking for help is showing how much you are willing to give to the visitors of the website, which is great!!

  • Bernie

I am happy to help. I have learned a lot from this web site and am finally a profitable trader so I would like to give something back. I have skills in a few areas so will help where I can.

    Hi Nick
To ask for help is not a bad skill. To rely on help is another issue. There is a saying “Instead of giving the beggar a fish in is hat, buy him a fishing stick and take him to the lake”.

You are filled with the good hearts desire to take us noobs down to the lake. Is it so bad then to taste the fish we get?

That obviously is a big NO. Look at all the respondses. Yes you are “alone”. You are the Man, the Biggy Boss so like a Captain on a boat you know the direction and how and when to make changes in schedule to avoid storm. But you are also the respected Captain. The good hearted that the crew will stand up for.

So you do have hands to lift. Perhaps not hands on all the posts, but the willingness to repay the respect.

Since some posts will still be un-manded perhaps it is time to take a nice quiet ride in the pacific ocean?
Let whatever good and big plans you have in your mind be there for awhile and in the meantime clean up on deck AND while doing this ENJOY the fruit of the craftmanship you have put up.

The E-books, Webinars, Course videos, half a Ninja training (green belt), live trade videos, blogs….
-AND then there is extensions made by Fetor, Metalhawk and Gus…

Dosen´t the above listing show you something that might take your breath away?

I for sure as a pretty new to this site and totally new into trading, find all this as more than sufficient for the time being.

What really counts is, that your heart is pure and your intense drive to help others in a clean way. Your E-book and your analyzis and your honesty are enough! Really. What else you come up with and the much appreciated ekstras from Fetor, Metalhawk and Gus far than exceeds any expectation if one can allow oneself to have any.

    So…
After sewing there is a time for harvest.
I am convinced that the “quality” and not the “Quantity” noobs will still be around during the harvest, the time to let the ship ride the silent waves in the beautyfull pacific.

Hopefully my words and sentences are being structured correctly since I am not english. The meaning above all is filled with love and comradeship for this community.

Unfortunately I do not posses any of the listed “help – needs” except lookning for 404 sites which I will do gladly.

    My 5 cents – and some ;0)

I can also help with reading and site checking. Responding to emails – if not some complicated technical stuff :) Know a little about html; can add content if it require some simple coding… can help anywhere where my skills are good enough :)

    suggestion:
Maybe everybody who would like to help can meet with you in chatroom and you tell us some additional information.

    Hi Nick,

I do design, Flash and websites. I would love to help in any way.

  • http://www.gassedout.blogspot.com/ K Wong

I have written before to tell you how much I enjoy, and how much I have improved (I think, at least so far) since following your writings. Well, I can’t code, I am hopeless at illustrations and I don’t know what SEO or usability are, so I guess if you have a need for a proof-reader and support email guy, then I am game to help. Though I notice these are the two most unskilled bits of labor and you have an endless list of offers already… lol… :)

    Hi Nick,

You cannot imagine how important the Forex4Noobs website has been.

Imagine these circumstances if you can:

    1. Being diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
    2. Losing not one – but two jobs because of a donkey-stubborn denial that there was anything wrong.
    3. And, after managing to lose a few hundred dollars desperately trying to find the “holy grail” (yes not a lot of money by some standards but a LOT in this bank account)

    - and it all turned around because Nick took the time to share his wisdom and experience. (Imagine, replacing an income while convalescing from home. Wow!)

It feels so inadequate trying to show appreciation by volunteering a few hours. Don’t hesitate to call.

Note – The message above does not use the “first person” as it infers an greater interest in oneself as the writer of the letter rather than who it is receiving it. The word “I” was used over 20 times in your last message. If you need a wordsmith to proof read or create original material, don’t hesitate to drop a note.

    Nick,
I am a self employed electrician, so I can relate to what you are going thru, there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done. We just have to prioritize our tasks and do the bet that we can. I am new to this field, so your web site has been a great help to me, so on the note of returning a favor, I will do whatever I can to help. I am a damn good electrican with no other skills but I can learn if there is something fo me to do.

    Nick,

I am a customer of yours and a computer engineer with 20 years of experience.
Let me know if you need some PHP coding done.

Dealing with a mom who had a stroke but I can click on links and do some basic checking. Although I think link checking can be done with software from a desktop. Otherwise as a member of the site and having bought both courses, I am happy with what you offered. If you add material great but I am quite satisfied with what I received. I know things take longer than you think, that’s the entrepreneurial thing you have going, comes with the terrirtory. We still love you.

  • habib

…and yet when you wrote me a response email – it was as if you had all the time in the world – Nick I think the strength of response to this blog reflects the huge regard with which you and the site is held.

By the way doesn’t every ninja realise that knowing when to ask for help is a a great strength.

Anyway, I have no web or programming skills but would love to do something, checking layout, reading, checking links – not the good stuff but it’s all I can do! Also more than willing to respond to emails although not really qualified to advise on ‘forex’ issues.

  • -Scott

I’m happy to help. Already offered it to you when chatting with you. I’m great at proofreading / editing.

And it looks like you’ll need an HR person, too! (all these offers to help)

  • -Scott

I’ll do your project / resource management.

You say what needs doing, I orchestrate the collaborative efforts of your volunteers to see that it gets done to your liking. We talk and adjust efforts accordingly. So you focus on what you do best: YOU.

And the site grows with your input, without overseeing the execution.

  • hodder

Those who give receive. I don’t have much for skills, but what I don’t know I would be willing to learn. People who help others, just to help others are rare. Whatever it takes Nick. Let me know.

    Hi Nick
My brother has been using your site for a while and he sent me a link to this post. I am not busy at the moment and I like to keep my skills up. I can code websites pretty well, but don’t know too much about PHP. I can also write t-SQL and .asp. If this is of interest to you eMail me ~;-)

  • Doc

    Aloha Nick,

For what it’s worth, I’d would be happy to provide any assistance on a voluntary basis in the arena of verbage presentation, grammarical correctness and overall proof-reading. The ability to effevtively communicate is a cornerstone to the success of ANY business, and perhaps the day will arrive when I am able to say my trading abilities are as finely tuned as my verbal skills. With all the pro bono offerings on your part, this presents an opportunity to return the gesture in a manner in which I am comfortable with.

In addition, living in Hawaii provides a time zone in which to interface efficiently on a global level.

    Best Regards,
    “Doc”

    • NickB

      @Doc:

      Sounds good thanks.
