Just thought I would share some inital findings from backtesting of a refind stratergy I'm working with my trading partner.
Data test range Jan 06 to Oct 08 GY H4 chart 81 Trades 58 Winners 23 losers 71.6% win ratio (Friday trades removed) (increases to 76% if Tuesday trades removed too) This is based on purley mechanical no support resistance or news releases taken into account. Next phase of testing will take place to attempt to factor in support resistance and trend lines and address the stopped out trades - we beleive we have identified the reason for so many stop outs. Interesting to see pivot table results which clearly show weakness on Friday and Tuesdays. Date2 Data Total Mon Count of Winners 13 Count of Losers 7 Tue Count of Winners 18 Count of Losers 11 Wed Count of Winners 10 Count of Losers 2 Thu Count of Winners 17 Count of Losers 3 Fri Count of Winners 7 Count of Losers 10 Total Count of Winners 65 Total Count of Losers 33 This is still a discretionary system based mainly on price action and support rersistance levels, there is a clear set parameters to follow which will clealy idenitify trade opportunities and indicate stop loss placementy and TP levels. A significant proportion of the stop outs occur as result of price action reversing, next phase of testing we will implent a reversal method to attempt to convert some of the losses to winners. There is still quite a bit work to testing other pairs and time frames. I will reveal more in due course. |
