General Questions

Broker Questions

  • What broker should I use?

Sorry, but I do not recommend brokers. There are too many factors involved in picking a good broker for you. The best broker for you can depend on your country, your account size, your trading strategy, your growth goals and countless other factors.

Every trader needs to pick the the broker that is right for them and that suits their needs. No trader can recommend a broker to you, because they do not know exactly what you need. The great thing is, finding a broker is easy, and I show you exactly how in the free video course. You can register for the free course here or if you are already registered you can visit the choosing a broker lesson here.

  • Which broker do you use?

Sorry but I do not recommend brokers or share information on my broker.

  • My broker doesn’t have 8hr time frames?

Most brokers in Forex use outdated charting technology such as MT4. What you may not know about MT4 is that it’s 10 years old and even when it was released in 2006, it wasn’t exactly cutting edge.

There are a lot of drawbacks of using MT4, but one of the biggest is the lack of time frames. This is the main reason I have never used MT4 for charting.
If you want to trade more time frames, you need a better charting platform. I am charting with TradingView at the moment and they are great. However, TradingView is not free and it can be quite pricey for a new trader.

The good news is that there are also free options, such a cTrader and MT5. Also, some brokers such as FXCM and Oanda are now providing customers free access to TradingView.

This is not a recommendation for FXCM or Oanda. I have not traded with either of these brokers recently so I can not recommend them. Please do your own research to find the broker that is right for you.

Strategy Questions

  • Can this strategy be used on x time frame?

Yes, you can use this strategy on all time frames. I use it the most on the daily and 8h time frames, but if you want more trades you can go to lower time frames.

  • Can you use this strategy on stock/futures/cryptocurrencies?

Yes! Price Action works on all of these. In fact, I have recently started a cryptocurrency analysis every monday on top of my forex analysis.

  • Why don’t you use x indicator or y indicator?

I prefer my charts to be clean and simple, not cluttered. All you need for Price Action is good S&R areas, nothing more. I always tell people they are free to use whatever they want, and a lot of my students end up personalising my strategy. If you like x indicator, and you’ve found that you trade better when using it, then by all means do use it. However, I am not a fan of indicators so I would suggest not using them.

Charting Platform / TradingView Questions

  • What charting platform do you use?

I use TradingView. It’s not free, but you can use the trial for a free month and then get the pro package for $10 a month.

  • Do I need to get the pro-plus package for TradingView?

No, the pro-version is more than enough for my strategy. Feel free to upgrade to pro-plus if you feel like you want that, but it is not necessary.

  • How do you draw arrows, lines and highlights on your charts?

While I wish I could draw on my charts and save the drawings, it is impossible. The tool I use to draw on my screen is part of my video recording software, Camtasia. I never actually draw on my chart, sorry to disappoint you.

  • How do you get those shaded areas for S+R areas on TradingView?

You can use the parallel channel tool found on the right hand site toolbar in tradingview. The video below shows you how to access the tool. If your parallel channel tool does not look the same as mine, simply double click it after placement to change settings such as the colours and how far off screen it extends.

    Placing SR Areas in Tradingview

  • How do I get the risk and reward tool you use in your videos?

This tool is part of TradingView, my charting software. To use this tool, you will need the TradingView charting software.

If you look on the left side of the TradingView chart, the 7th button down (the one with the 3 lines and the 2 arrows in the middle) has the long position and short position tool. That’s what I use to see the potential profit/loss. Very useful tool, it’s why I love TradingView so much!

  • My TradingView isn't working! Can you help me?

If you’re having issues with TradingView your best bet is to contact the TradingView support. They will be in a much better position to help you out than I am.

Webinars

  • Do you record your webinars?

Yes, my webinars will always be recorded and uploaded to Youtube soon after the webinar is finished. On some rare occasions, it might take a bit longer to upload them to YouTube.

When the webinar has been uploaded, I send out an email to let you know. If you’d like to get this e-mail, make sure you’ve signed up to the mailing list.

  • How can I join your webinars?

The live webinars are member-only. If you want to join these, you need to become a member of the Forex Mastermind Course.

If you already are a member, I send out an email about an hour or so before the webinar starts with a link to the webinar room.
